What Scottish YouTuber Callum Mills said about meeting Jyoti Malhotra surrounded by gunmen in Lahore?

While on a trip to Pakistan, Scottish YouTuber Callum Mills met and interacted with Indian YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra. The 33-year-old YouTuber, a native of Haryana is currently in judicial custody after being arrested by Hisar Police on charges of espionage.

A video filmed by Mills in Lahore’s Anarkali Bazar shows Jyoti surrounded by several armed men. The travel vlogger was surrounded by at least six men armed with AK-47s for her security in Pakistan’s Lahore.

Callum Mills, whose YouTube channel is called “Callum Abroad,” made the video in Lahore’s Anarkali Bazar. Mills visited Pakistan in March.

“Look at all the guns she has got surrounding her. There’s about six gunmen surrounding her,” he further said, expressing concern that such heavy security implied that the area was unsafe.

The VIP-like treatment that Jyoti received in Pakistan has raised many eyebrows now. Mills also interacted with Jyoti when the latter introduced herself as an Indian vlogger covering Pakistan and asked him if he has ever visited India.

Is it only because she is speaking positively about Pakistan…? Scottish YouTuber on Jyoti Malhotra

“Jyoti Malhotra. That’s the name of the Indian girl I met in Lahore on the streets. India has now arrested her and accused her of espionage and being a spy passing secrets of India to Pakistan. Apparently she has been coming back and forth from Pakistan to India with ease. It is usually very difficult for an Indian to go to Pakistan and vice versa but she has been doing this with ease. The Indian government are saying that she fell into that honeytrap and that she has been passing secrets of India to Pakistan. I’ve seen some people saying is it only because she is speaking positively about Pakistan that the Indian government is doing this? It is very interesting!” Mills says in a video on YouTube.

Jyoti Malhotra in 14-day judicial custody

YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan, was remanded to a 14-day judicial custody by a local court in Haryana’s Hisar on Monday. Jyoti is one of the 12 people arrested so far for allegedly spying for Pakistan. The travel vlogger was arrested by Hisar Police on May 16 in the case registered under provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Official Secrets Act.

Jyoti was arrested by Hisar Police on charges of espionage for Pakistan and was in police custody for nine days prior to this. She was initially sent to police remand for five days and again appeared before the court on May 22. The court granted additional four-day custody for further interrogation, which ended on Monday.
However, Hisar police has also said that it has not yet found evidence of Jyoti Malhotra’s connection with any terrorist organisation or her involvement in any terrorist incidents.

Jyoti Malhotra’s laptop and mobile phones being scanned by police

The police had earlier seized three mobile phones, a laptop and some other electronic devices from Malhotra and sent the same for forensic analysis. During her custody, she was also questioned by other investigating agencies such as the NIA and IB. Her laptop and mobile phones are being examined by the police.

“We have recovered over 12TB of digital data from her three mobile phones, and a report of the laptop is awaited. The forensic report reveals that she was in direct contact with at least four Pakistani intelligence operatives, and she received special treatment during her trips to Pakistan. We are examining recovered digital data,” a senior police official told media.

Jyoti was in contact with alleged ISI agent Danish

As per Police sources, Jyoti had been in contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish, a former staffer at the Pakistani High Commission, since November 2023. The latter is also allegedly linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Danish was expelled from India on May 13 for allegedly engaging in espionage activities.
