Rajasthan Horror: Woman Sedated and Raped in ICU by Hospital Staff

In a deeply disturbing case, a 32-year-old woman was allegedly sedated and raped by a member of the nursing staff while admitted to the ICU at ESIC Medical College in Alwar. The woman had been shifted to the ICU following a surgical procedure. The incident, which has sent shockwaves across the region, came to light only after the victim’s husband filed a formal complaint and sought the intervention of the Additional District Magistrate.

According to the FIR lodged at the local police station, the victim was in a semi-conscious state when the accused allegedly drew curtains around her bed, administered sedatives, and sexually assaulted her. The police have cited that during the assault, the woman attempted to call her husband, despite being under the influence of sedatives. Her cries reportedly led to her husband being brought into the ICU, uncovering the incident.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahavir Singh confirmed:

“The victim’s husband has filed a complaint stating that his wife was sexually assaulted while unconscious inside the ICU. Curtains were drawn around her bed, and she was drugged and raped by a hospital staff member. She regained partial consciousness and called out to her husband, prompting his entry into the ward.”

Adding weight to the allegations, another witness — the husband of a fellow ICU patient — told police that he saw the nursing staff committing the act during the night.

Despite the gravity of the incident, the victim’s family alleges that the hospital administration attempted to cover up the matter. The accused, reportedly, even apologized to the victim in front of her family and staff, yet no immediate action was taken. It was only after the family approached the Additional District Magistrate that the police intervened.

Following the ADM’s directive, an FIR was filed, the victim underwent a medical examination, and her formal statement was recorded. In a video testimony, the survivor not only identified the accused but also gave a detailed account of how she was drugged and raped inside the ICU.

Law enforcement has since initiated a review of the hospital’s CCTV footage and is moving forward with the arrest of the accused.

Responding to the case, Dr. Aseem Das, Dean of ESIC Medical College, stated:

“As soon as we were informed, an internal investigation committee was formed. The team is expected to submit its report by Saturday. We assure strict action against anyone found guilty.”

The incident has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about patient safety and accountability within medical institutions.
