Nita Ambani Showcases Opulence in Jewellery While Radhika Merchant Highlights Kanjeevaram at Ganpati Festivities

The CSR Journal Magazine

The recent Ganpati celebrations at Antilia on September 13 were a spectacular display featuring the Ambani family and numerous Bollywood celebrities. Traditionally a grand family occasion, this year’s festivities included moments that stood out, particularly due to the elegant attire of Nita Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The ambience was filled with joy as the family welcomed their beloved ‘Antilia Cha Raja’, setting the tone for an extravagant celebration.

Nita Ambani’s Luxurious Look

Nita Ambani made a striking impression with her choice of attire and jewellery at the event. She wore a silk saree, characterised by a vibrant orange-magenta colour scheme and a contrasting gold border that added a festive flair. Complementing her saree was a statement necklace, which was grand in design and became the focal point of her ensemble. The necklace featured an impressive arrangement of gold, diamonds, coloured gemstones, and pearls, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship.

The necklace was further accentuated by the addition of two gold and ruby bangles, along with matching earrings. Nita’s makeup maintained a simple yet elegant appearance, with a matte finish that enhanced her overall look. She opted for a traditional braid, finished with a delicate gajra that contributed to the festive aesthetic. Completing her attire was a gold potli that streamlined her festive ensemble.

Radhika Merchant’s Innovative Kanjeevaram Design

Radhika Merchant, noted for her expertise in Bharatanatyam dance, brought the elegance of Kanjeevaram silk to the forefront during her performance. Dressed in a custom-made creation by designer Manish Malhotra, Radhika donned a handwoven Kanjeevaram saree in a rich jewel-pink hue adorned with gold zari. The outfit also featured antique-gold marodi embroidery and additional zardozi elements, contributing to its opulent design.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Radhika’s attire was its tailored silhouette, differing from conventional sarees. Instead, the Kanjeevaram was fashioned into a pre-stitched skirt that allowed for fluid movement, reflecting the intricacies of classical dance. The pleats were meticulously designed to open uniformly, creating a geometric symmetry that enhanced her dance, particularly during the aramandi pose, an essential element of Bharatanatyam.

Manish Malhotra’s innovative approach transformed a traditional textile into something modern without losing its essence. The design paid homage to the historical significance of Kanjeevaram, celebrating the artistry behind the fabric while seamlessly integrating it with the movements of classical dance. Radhika’s presentation was further refined with contributions from stylist Esther Pinto, makeup artist Loveleen, and hairstylist Flavien Heldt.

Star-Studded Guest List

The Ganpati celebrations at Antilia also attracted a notable guest list from the film industry. High-profile attendees included Rekha, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Kriti Sanon, Kajol, Katrina Kaif, and Vicky Kaushal, among others, adding to the glamour of the festivities. Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and contributed to the vibrant atmosphere that characterised the event.

The combination of traditional attire and modern interpretations showcased by the Ambani women truly highlighted the cultural richness of the occasion. The dual celebrations of festive adornment and the arts facilitated a deeper appreciation for Indian heritage, resonating throughout the evening. The event not only celebrated familial bonds but also the enduring beauty of Indian craftsmanship.
