The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned singer Badshah in connection with allegations of obscenity related to his song, Tateeree. The Commission has responded proactively to media reports expressing concerns regarding the track’s lyrics and visuals. According to a statement issued by the NCW, the content of the song appears to be “objectionable” and may violate regulations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act of 1986.

Details of the Summons

Badshah, whose full name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, is required to appear before the NCW alongside the song’s director Mahi Sandhu, co-director Joban Sandhu, and producer Hiten. All parties have been instructed to present themselves at the Commission’s office on March 25, 2026, at 12:30 pm, accompanied by relevant documents. The summons has been issued under the authority granted to the NCW as per the NCW Act of 1990.

Potential Legal Consequences

The NCW has emphasized that failure to comply with the summons could lead to appropriate legal repercussions. This action comes amid heightened scrutiny of music content accused of promoting vulgarity and offensive portrayals, particularly in relation to women.

Previous Actions Taken

In the days leading up to the NCW’s summons, YouTube took down Badshah’s song following the registration of a First Information Report (FIR). The FIR alleged that the song includes objectionable material and disrespects the dignity of women. This incident highlights increasing concerns regarding the nature of music content being produced and shared with the public.
