Mumbai, a city known for its Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, Misal Pav and Bhel Puri has made it to the world’s 20 best cities for food for 2025! Mumbai occupies the 14th position in a survey by Time Out. However, Mumbai’s rank has gone down as compared to last year when the city grabbed the 8th spot!
Talking about this year, the survey has highlighted Mumbai’s diverse street food offerings with a focus on the khau gallis (food streets), Southern Zaveri Bazaar and Northern Ghatkopar. “Between savoury chaat, jumbo-sandwiches, veggie-laden ‘pizzas’, Beirut-inspired Frankie-wraps, and dry-fruit topped falooda, every bite is far from demure – never subtle and never shy,” the survey mentions.
Mumbai’s Jini Dosa mentioned
Jini Dosa – a crispy dosa made from lentil and rice batter, stuffed with colorful vegetables, smeared with Schezwan sauce, topped with grated local cheese, and served as bite-sized rolls – received a special mention in the survey, especially the one which is sold at Vile Parle’s Khau Galli.
