Mother Claims 19-Year-Old Son Misled in Tiger Shroff Firing Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

The family of 19-year-old Sumit, who was arrested for allegedly supplying a weapon used in the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s vehicle in Mumbai, has come forward to assert that he was misled and played no part in the incident. His mother, Asha, stated that Delhi Police took Sumit from their residence in Sonipat, Haryana, under the pretext of questioning him.

Subsequently, the family received a call instructing them to travel to Mumbai to arrange for his bail. Sumit was apprehended alongside three others by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell on October 20, as part of an investigation into an alleged weapons supply network associated with gangster Anil Pandit. The other individuals arrested include Kunal, 21, also from Sonipat, and two women, Radha and Babita, both aged 23, from Uttar Pradesh.

Asha claimed that Kunal, who is also known as Bhola, had enticed Sumit into accompanying him. According to the family, a man named Nitin introduced the two at the clothing shop where Sumit had been employed for three years. They mentioned that Sumit had only completed up to Class 9 in his education. Asha recounted that Sumit had travelled to Khatu Shyam with Nitin and returned the following day.

Details of the Incident and Arrests

The family resides in a rented accommodation, and Sumit’s father is employed at a brick kiln. Asha expressed their financial constraints, stating they could not afford to make the journey to Mumbai and appealed for her son’s release. The incident in question occurred on October 18, when gunmen opened fire on Shroff’s car in the Juhu area of Mumbai, injuring his driver and a passerby, while the actor himself escaped unharmed.

Following the shooting, three alleged shooters were apprehended in Kota, Rajasthan, the next morning and subsequently transported to Mumbai. Authorities reported that Kunal had been introduced to Pandit after being released from jail on bail. Allegedly under Pandit’s direction, Kunal collected a pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition from Amritsar. Reports indicate that Kunal persuaded Radha, with whom he had formed a relationship, to transport the weapon to Mumbai.

It is alleged that both Radha and Babita acted as couriers for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. On October 15, Kunal reportedly took the two women to New Delhi Railway Station, with the pistol concealed in Radha’s bag. During their journey, he communicated Pandit’s instructions through an encrypted messaging application, according to police accounts.

Police Investigation and Ongoing Developments

Upon their arrival in Mumbai on October 17, the women checked into a hotel near Dadar. Around 11 am, a minor boy allegedly collected the bag containing the weapon from Radha outside the hotel. Following the shooting incident, Pandit reportedly contacted Kunal, instructing him to facilitate the shooters’ escape from Mumbai.

The investigation continues as authorities work to unravel the connections between the accused and the alleged criminal network. The police have not disclosed further details regarding the ongoing inquiry or any additional suspects. The case has drawn significant media attention due to the involvement of a high-profile celebrity and the serious nature of the allegations.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the families of the accused are left grappling with the implications of the arrests, while the police remain focused on ensuring justice in the case. The situation highlights the complexities surrounding youth involvement in criminal activities and the potential for manipulation by established criminal networks.
