Missing Photo of Ajit Pawar on NCP Banner Causes Controversy

The CSR Journal Magazine

A recent event organized by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra has stirred political controversy due to the absence of photographs of the late Ajit Pawar and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar from a promotional banner. The incident occurred during a ceremony held on March 27 in Raigad district, where newly-elected Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members were honored. State NCP chief Sunil Tatkare was present at the gathering.

Ajit Pawar’s Absence Sparks Allegations from Rival Faction

The banner featured only images of Tatkare, his daughter Aditi Tatkare, who is also a minister, and her brother Aniket Tatkare. This exclusion of Ajit Pawar, who passed away in a plane crash in January, was promptly noted by members of the Sharad Pawar-led faction of the party. Rohit Pawar, a nephew of Ajit Pawar and an MLA from the NCP (Sharad Pawar) faction, raised concerns regarding this oversight. He accused Sunil Tatkare and Praful Patel of attempting to take control of the NCP from Sunetra Pawar.

Rohit Pawar Compares Situation to ‘Secret Property Takeover’

Rohit Pawar likened the situation to a landlord secretly transferring property ownership, expressing his thoughts in a post on X while sharing the contentious banner. His remarks highlighted ongoing tensions within the party regarding leadership and loyalty.

Aditi Tatkare Issues Apology, Calls It a Worker-Level Oversight

In response to these criticisms, Aditi Tatkare extended her apologies for the omission. She clarified that such events are managed by party workers and expressed her regret about the incident. Aditi emphasized that both Ajit Pawar and Sunetra Pawar hold significant places in their hearts and that the loyalty of the workers should not be judged by a single photograph on a banner.

Aditi Defends Party Loyalty, Questions Critics’ Intentions

She expressed gratitude for the situation, stating that it helped bring to light how a local oversight can escalate into a significant issue. Additionally, she remarked on the past criticism faced by Ajit Pawar during his life, questioning those who now speak against the party’s unity.

‘Crocodile Tears’ Remark Deepens NCP’s Internal Rift

Other party members characterized Rohit Pawar’s accusations as “crocodile tears,” urging him to redirect his focus toward managing his own faction. This incident highlights the internal divisions within the NCP and the challenges faced by the party in maintaining unity amid leadership transitions and historical legacies.
