Maharashtra School Principal Removed After Protests by CJP

The CSR Journal Magazine

The principal of a Zilla Parishad school in Hingoli district, Maharashtra, has been dismissed from his position following protests initiated by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and local residents. Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of CJP, claimed that the principal frequently reported to school in an intoxicated state, prompting community members to demand his removal. The protests were part of the CJP’s ongoing “Fix Our Schools” campaign.

Dipke stated that the protest was centred around the principal’s alleged behaviour and that his removal was a critical demand among the protesters. “We have been vocal about our objections to the principal’s conduct,” he remarked. He further emphasised that the community would persist in their demonstrations until all their requests were addressed.

According to Dipke, the focus of the protests extended beyond the principal’s dismissal. The CJP is also advocating for the hiring of two additional teachers to address staffing shortages at the school, which they consider vital for improving educational conditions. He indicated that community activism would continue until their demands are met.

Launch of Fix Our Schools Campaign from Hingoli

On the preceding Saturday, Abhijeet Dipke officially commenced the “School Thik Karo” campaign in his home village of Hingoli. The campaign aims to highlight issues faced by local government schools, including insufficient amenities and inadequate infrastructure. During his visit, Dipke inspected the school facilities and identified problems such as broken windows, clogged toilets, and a lack of adequate seating for students.

His remarks followed an Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony, where he observed the conditions of the school first-hand. Dipke expressed concern over the state of the educational facilities in the region, stressing the need for urgent improvements to support proper learning environments for children.

Having recently announced that the CJP would reinitiate the “Season 2 of Jantar Mantar” campaign, Dipke indicated a commitment to address pressing educational issues. This new phase of their activism follows a previous 37-day protest which concluded on July 25. This earlier demonstration was prompted by the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, along with promises to address various demands from the CJP coalition.

Nationwide Listening Tour to Address Public Concerns

In response to ongoing educational challenges, Saurav Das, the chief spokesperson for CJP, stated that the party is undertaking a nationwide “listening tour.” This initiative is designed to engage with the public and gather insights on their concerns, especially in the educational sector. Das emphasised that education has placed a prominent focus on their agenda since the beginning of this campaign on Independence Day.

Highlighting the political climate, Das noted, “Protests are occurring across the country against incompetent governance. In light of this reality, we want to ensure that the grievances of the public do not go unheard.” He confirmed that the CJP intends to prioritise educational issues through a series of activities that will directly address public concerns.

The CJP’s concerted efforts, marked by protests and campaigns, aim to draw attention to the educational challenges within Maharashtra and beyond. The group’s calls for reforms signify a broader strategy to facilitate systemic changes in governmental educational policies.
