Maharashtra CM Fadnavis Meets PM Modi to Discuss Development Initiatives

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28 in New Delhi to discuss significant development issues pertinent to the state. This meeting allowed the Chief Minister to present updates regarding various ongoing projects and initiatives that are being implemented across Maharashtra.

During this interaction, Fadnavis expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, noting that their discussions provided valuable insights and encouragement for the state’s development agenda. Following the meeting, Fadnavis took to social media platform X, stating his gratitude towards the Prime Minister and highlighting the positive energy derived from the discussions regarding the future of Maharashtra.

In his post, Fadnavis stated, “Today, we met our leader and the nation’s beloved Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji in New Delhi and received his guidance on various subjects for the development of Maharashtra.” This expression emphasises the importance of the Prime Minister’s support in shaping the progress of the state.

Discussion on Agricultural and Cooperative Issues

Alongside his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Fadnavis also convened with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address pressing issues in the sugar cooperative industry and among onion-producing farmers. The Chief Minister sought assurances regarding the increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) as well as discussions on expanding the ethanol quota and loan restructuring.

Following this meeting with Amit Shah, Fadnavis highlighted the productive discussions that took place, reiterating the commitment to resolving the sugar mill owners’ challenges. He mentioned that a proposal regarding ethanol was requested, which, if approved, could alleviate several issues in the industry.

The CM stated, “A positive discussion took place. Union HM Amit Shah confirmed that a favourable decision will be made concerning the increase in MSP, the enhancement of the ethanol quota, and the restructuring of loans.” This statement reflects the optimism regarding forthcoming policy decisions that could impact the agricultural sector positively.

Commitment to Address Onion and Agricultural Crises

In light of the ongoing onion and agricultural crisis, Chief Minister Fadnavis assured that a decision is expected within ten days. He voiced the state government’s demands to increase the procurement of onions by the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) to 1 lakh tonnes, alongside a request for heightened procurement prices.

Fadnavis explained the necessity of immediate action to support farmers affected by the prevailing agricultural difficulties. The proposed increase in procurement amounts and prices is intended to provide essential assistance to the onion producers in Maharashtra.
