The Madhya Pradesh government will organise a fortnight-long event titled ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ starting April 10 and concluding on April 25, 2026, to promote women empowerment across the state. The initiative seeks to raise awareness about the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam and celebrate the leadership of women in various sectors. An official release noted the government’s directives for this campaign to be celebrated as a public festival throughout the state.
The campaign will kick off in Bhopal, featuring a state-level conference at Hansdhwani Auditorium, located within Ravindra Bhavan. This conference will see participation from intellectuals and notable figures. Additional large-scale conferences are also scheduled in divisional and district headquarters, including cities like Chhindwara, Khargone, and Mandsaur. The events will recognise women MPs, MLAs, mayors, and panchayat representatives, as well as successful women entrepreneurs who will share their experiences.
A comprehensive outreach program named ‘Nari Shakti Padyatras’ is planned for each Lok Sabha and Assembly constituency, promoting involvement from women across various communities. The Women and Child Development Department will lead these padyatras, aiming to engage diverse groups in the discourse of women’s empowerment.
Celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti and Community Engagement
An important feature of the fortnight will be the observance of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14. Special Gram Sabhas will convene across all gram panchayats in the state to pay tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar. These meetings will include discussions focused on the provisions of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, allowing for a deeper understanding of its implications.
<h4Furthermore, seminars and discussions are planned in three-tier panchayats, urban local bodies, and educational institutions. These gatherings will serve to facilitate dialogue regarding the importance of women’s empowerment within the community. Local leaders will give speeches to engage and educate residents on social and legal aspects of women’s rights.
