A 17-year-old student from JH College died suddenly while attending a Ganesh idol immersion procession in Betul, Madhya Pradesh on the night of September 25, 2026. Pratiksha Verma, who was pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Science, reportedly lost consciousness during the event. Eyewitnesses state that she had been enjoying the procession before her health deteriorated rapidly.

According to local police, Pratiksha was taken to a nearby district hospital where she was declared dead upon arrival. The exact cause of her death is pending further investigation and will be confirmed after a postmortem examination is conducted. Authorities have stated that additional details will emerge following the autopsy results.

Pratiksha was residing in Betul in rented accommodation to facilitate her studies and was originally from Sohagpur Dhana, located within the Shahpur police station jurisdiction. Her sudden collapse has raised concerns among her family and friends, who were present during the procession.

Her friend, Vedika Sanotiya, corroborated these statements, describing how Pratiksha became dizzy immediately after the DJ started playing, leading to her collapse.

Efforts were made to assist her before she was transported to the hospital. In light of the allegations, local law enforcement has yet to find concrete evidence linking the loud music to Pratiksha’s untimely death. They have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and they will explore all possible factors that may have influenced her condition.
