Madhya Pradesh Government May Reopen Ladli Behna Portal for Eligible Women

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Madhya Pradesh government is considering reopening the registration portal for the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana, allowing eligible women who were previously excluded from the scheme to apply for benefits. Minister of State for Health, Narendra Shivaji Patel, has indicated that Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has instructed officials to evaluate the number of women who have not yet been included in the programme. This development raises the possibility of new registrations for those who missed the initial opportunity.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Patel stated, “Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has spoken about adding the names of women left out of the Ladli Behna Yojana in the near future.” He emphasised that the Chief Minister had directed officials to ascertain how many women remain outside the scheme’s coverage. However, the minister did not specify a timeline for when the portal might reopen.

As of now, the government has not made any official announcement regarding the registration schedule, application process, or eligibility criteria for potential beneficiaries. If the government proceeds with reopening registrations, it could provide another chance for eligible women who missed the opportunity to enrol previously and receive financial assistance under this welfare initiative.

Current Status of Financial Assistance

This announcement comes as the Madhya Pradesh government continues to disburse financial assistance to existing beneficiaries of the scheme. On October 14, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav executed the transfer of the 41st instalment of the Ladli Behna Yojana during a state-level conference held at Guruwahi village in Umaria district. The government has transferred over Rs 1,834 crore to the bank accounts of approximately 1.25 crore eligible women under this initiative.

The Ladli Behna Yojana is a flagship programme aimed at providing direct financial support to women, thereby enhancing their financial security and promoting economic independence. A budget allocation of Rs 23,882.81 crore has been earmarked for the programme for the financial year 2026-27, reflecting the government’s commitment to this welfare initiative.

Despite the ongoing financial assistance to current beneficiaries, women who were unable to register earlier must await further clarification from the government regarding the reopening of the portal. The next steps will likely hinge on the assessment of the number of women who were left out of the scheme and the subsequent decision on whether to allow new registrations.

Future Developments Awaited

For now, the situation remains uncertain as the government has yet to announce specific details about the reopening of the registration portal. Women who have been excluded from the scheme are encouraged to stay informed about any updates from the government. The assessment of the number of eligible women will play a crucial role in determining the future of the Ladli Behna Yojana and its outreach.

Officials are expected to conduct a thorough evaluation to understand the extent of the issue before making any decisions. The potential reopening of the portal could significantly impact the lives of many women in Madhya Pradesh, providing them with much-needed financial support. As developments unfold, the government’s actions will be closely monitored by both beneficiaries and prospective applicants alike.
