Kangana Ranaut to Reprise Role in Queen 2; Filming Set to Begin Soon

The CSR Journal Magazine

Kangana Ranaut will return to the big screen as Rani in the sequel to the acclaimed film Queen, with shooting expected to commence by the end of April. The follow-up comes nearly ten years after the original, which was celebrated for its narrative and Ranaut’s performance. The anticipation around Queen 2 has surged as reports confirm the project’s progression after a lengthy period in development.

New Narrative Direction for the Sequel

The storyline of Queen 2 is set to diverge from its predecessor, which depicted a small-town girl exploring life abroad. In contrast, the sequel will portray Rani as a character in an urban setting. While she retains her defining characteristics—independence, sharpness, and an unconventional outlook—the new plot will reportedly revolve around a significant life event that drives her journey of self-discovery.

Filming Locations and Timeline

The production is slated to begin in a studio located in Mumbai, where filmmakers will create sets that reflect a North Indian city as well as Rani’s home environment. Following the initial phase of filming, the crew plans to travel to various metropolitan areas across India to complete the shoot. The entire filming schedule is projected to wrap up within three months, indicating an efficient production timeline.

Cast Composition and Changes

While Kangana Ranaut is confirmed to reprise her iconic role, reports suggest that the original supporting cast, which included Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon, may not return for the sequel. Director Vikas Bahl is reportedly in the process of assembling a new ensemble cast, considering several theatre actors for supporting roles, thus marking a significant departure from the original film’s strong supporting performances.

Expectations and Future Projects

The first installment of Queen received widespread acclaim for its storytelling and the standout performance by Ranaut. This sets high expectations for the sequel, as fans eagerly anticipate how the story will unfold. In addition to her return in Queen 2, Ranaut is also involved in other projects, including an upcoming film with R Madhavan and another titled Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, currently in development.
