Jos Buttler Joins Elite 600 Six Club in T20 Cricket

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a remarkable feat, Jos Buttler, the prominent England batsman playing for Gujarat Titans (GT), became the fifth cricketer to enter the prestigious 600 six club in T20 cricket. This landmark moment occurred during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Buttler scored 52 runs off 27 balls, including three fours and five sixes, achieving a strike rate of 192.59. With this performance, he now has a total of exactly 600 sixes in T20 cricket, joining the ranks of legendary players such as Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and Nicholas Pooran.

Return to Form for Buttler

This innings marks a crucial return to form for Buttler, as it is his first half-century in his last 16 innings. His previous fifty was recorded during the SA20 season against Pretoria Capitals in January 2026 while playing for the Durban Super Giants. Buttler’s struggles continued through the T20 World Cup, where he accumulated only 87 runs across eight innings, averaging a mere 10.87, with a highest score of 26.

IPL 2026 Performance Overview

As of now, in IPL 2026, Buttler has amassed 116 runs over three innings, boasting an average of 38.66 and a strike rate exceeding 156, which includes one half-century. He has played 20 T20 innings this year, accumulating 422 runs at an average of 23.44 and a strike rate of 140.66, with two fifties and a top score of 97 not out.

Match Highlights

In the match against DC, the Delhi team opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Following an early dismissal of Sai Sudharsan for 12 runs, Buttler formed a significant 60-run partnership with Shubman Gill, who contributed 70 runs from 45 balls, hitting four boundaries and five sixes. Washington Sundar also played a vital role, scoring 55 runs off 32 deliveries, supplemented by six fours and two sixes. The efforts of Buttler and his teammates enabled GT to set a challenging total of 210 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Bowling Performance by Delhi Capitals

For Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar emerged as the standout bowler, picking up two wickets while conceding 55 runs. Kuldeep Yadav and Lungi Ngidi each contributed with a wicket, but it was insufficient to rein in the Gujarat Titans’ scoring. The collective batting strength of GT was crucial in establishing a commanding position in the match.
