Alia Bhatt recently participated in the Durga Puja celebrations at the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samity in Mumbai. Accompanied by her close friend and filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, she visited the pandal on Monday, dressed in a vibrant magenta pink saree paired with a turquoise blue blouse. This visit added to the festive atmosphere, as her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor, had previously attended the same event to seek blessings and perform a song.

For the occasion, Alia chose a saree that featured a traditional yet modern design, complemented by puffed sleeves on her blouse. She accessorised her outfit with gold bangles and matching earrings, along with a bindi that enhanced her festive look. Her hair was styled in a bun, adorned with pink and blue flowers, creating a striking appearance that resonated with the celebratory spirit of the event.

Photographs taken at the pandal captured Alia interacting with devotees, showcasing her engagement with the community during the festivities. The event, which attracts numerous visitors, highlights the cultural significance of Durga Puja, particularly within the film industry.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Earlier Visit and Performance

Ranbir Kapoor had visited the same pandal on Mahasaptami, which fell on Saturday, October 17. He was joined by Ayan Mukerji during this festive visit. Ranbir took to the stage alongside singer Harshdeep Kaur to perform “Kabira,” a popular song from his 2013 film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The audience inside the pandal responded enthusiastically as he sang, creating a lively atmosphere.

On this occasion, Ranbir was dressed in a silk embroidered maroon short kurta paired with cream wide-leg trousers, while Ayan opted for a royal blue kurta and white pyjamas. Inside the pandal, Ranbir showed his reverence by bowing before the altar, where the officiating priest applied a red tilak to his forehead. Images from the event depicted him standing barefoot with folded hands in front of the impressive 17-foot idol of Goddess Durga.

Videos from the venue illustrated the excitement of the crowd, with Ayan seen escorting Ranbir as they interacted with attendees. Ranbir acknowledged the cheers from the audience, waving and blowing kisses in response, while also engaging with photographers present at the event.

Historical Significance of the Pandal

The North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samity holds personal significance for Ayan Mukerji, as it was established by his grandfather, producer Sashadhar Mukherjee, along with other family members in 1948. Known as the Mukherjee family Durga Puja, the samity continues to be managed by the extended family, including notable cousins such as Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Tanishaa Mukerji. This annual gathering serves as a cultural hub for members of the Hindi film industry.

Ranbir and Ayan have maintained a collaborative relationship over the years, having worked together for more than a decade. Ayan directed Ranbir in his feature debut, Wake Up Sid, which was released in 2009, followed by Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013. Their most recent collaboration was the 2022 fantasy action film Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, which also marked the first film featuring both Ranbir and Alia together.

Looking ahead, Alia is set to appear in Ayan’s upcoming Brahmastra Part 2 alongside Ranbir. She has also been involved in other projects, including Alpha and the production of Don’t Be Shy. Her future films, Love & War and Tumbbad 2, are scheduled for release in 2027. Meanwhile, Ranbir is preparing for his role in director Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, which is set to hit theatres on November 5, 2026.
