Jaipur Hit-and-Run Accused Arrested for Killing 3, Expelled From Congress

A tragic incident occurred in Jaipur’s Nahargarh area on Monday night. A man, driving under the influence of alcohol, ran a speeding SUV over pedestrians and several vehicles. The incident led to the deaths of three people and seven others injured.

Congress expels Usman from party

Following the incident the Jaipur City District Congress Committee has taken prompt action in response to the tragic incident in Nahargarh. Usman Khan, who has been identified as the driver involved in the incident and was reportedly associated with Congress. Usman has now been expelled from the party’s district executive committee.

According to reports the driver, identified as Usman Khan, was speeding his SUV at approximately 70-80 km/h through the congested and crowded streets of Jaipur. Eyewitnesses from the scene reported that the SUV appeared out of control. The vehicle crashed into several people and damaged parked vehicles, causing widespread panic among the locals.

BJP MLA’s statement

BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya condemned the incident and demanded punishment against the accused. He said, “The accused, Usman Hasan, has done this deliberately. He is a Congress functionary and should be hanged. I have full faith in my government, CM Bhajanlal Sharma, that this (victim’s) family will get compensation and at the same time, bulldozers will be used on those who have caused this accident. The accused is a worker of Amin Kagzi (Congress MLA), and he is trying to save him. But we will not let him escape. We will ensure that he is hanged.”

Victims and Injuries

Following the incident three people were reported dead. Among the fatalities were Mamta Kanwar (50), Awadhesh Pareek (37), and Virendra Singh. The authorities informed that a total of nine people were injured in the crash, including a 3-year-old girl.

Meanwhile, three victims remain in critical condition, including a woman and her brother, and a 17-year-old girl. The injured people were immediately rushed to the SMS Hospital for treatment, where medical teams continue to attend to their needs.

Driver’s Actions and Arrest

According to reports the driver, Usman khan, was reportedly so intoxicated that he could barely remain conscious. Usman had earlier struck a pedestrian on MI Road and also hit people in the Galta Gate area before reaching Nahargarh. CCTV footage revealed the car speeding and hitting multiple obstacles on its path.

After being chased by a local on a scooter, Usman’s vehicle finally crashed into a blockade, and he attempted to flee the scene but was caught by bystanders and handed over to the police. He was later detained, and the car was seized.

Political Repercussions

Following the incident, Usman Khan, a Congress member, was expelled from the party’s district working committee. Senior police officers, along with local representatives, visited the hospital to check on the victims’ condition. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the incident, calling for severe legal action against the driver.

The tragic accident has prompted calls for increased traffic surveillance in the area to prevent similar incidents in the future.
