Jagan Reddy Critiques Chandrababu Naidu’s Government for Financial Mismanagement

The CSR Journal Magazine

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) – Jagan Mohan Reddy, the president of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), has criticized the budget recently presented by the government led by Chandrababu Naidu, claiming it is replete with misleading figures and false narratives. Reddy asserted that since Naidu took office, the state’s debt has escalated significantly. He noted that during the five-year term of YSRCP, the total borrowing amounted to approximately Rs 3.31 lakh crore. In stark contrast, within just two years of Naidu’s administration, the debt has already exceeded Rs 3.20 lakh crore.

Concerns Over Resource Mismanagement

Reddy emphasized that each time Chandrababu Naidu assumes power, there is a noticeable decline in revenues coupled with a rise in debts. He attributed this trend to widespread corruption and the rampant misuse of state resources. According to him, parcels of government land are being sold to private real estate companies at distressing prices, with valuable lands in Visakhapatnam being allocated to relatives and associates of those in power.

Government’s Fiscal Practices Criticized

The YSRCP leader lambasted the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for failing to maintain even a minimum balance in the treasury. He criticized the conduct of the Assembly sessions, describing them as theatrical displays rather than platforms for discussing pressing public issues. Reddy remarked that his party had raised questions regarding the government’s ‘Super Six’ promises but received no substantive responses. He questioned the status of commitments made to women and inquired whether any land or housing has been provided to the poor in the past two years.

Protests from Anganwadi Workers Ignored

Reddy highlighted the ongoing protests by Anganwadi workers, stating that the government has neglected their grievances. He pointed out the irony in Naidu’s expectations for these workers to attend political meetings despite the administration’s failure to address their concerns. This neglect has raised questions about the government’s responsiveness to citizens’ issues, particularly concerning essential worker rights and social welfare commitments.
