IPL 2026: Gill, Sundar, and Buttler Shine as GT Posts 210 Runs Against DC

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a thrilling encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday, the Gujarat Titans put up a formidable total of 210 runs against the Delhi Capitals in match 14 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Shubman Gill, returning as captain after missing the previous match due to injury, played a pivotal role in the team’s batting effort.

Solid Start with Early Contributions

Upon being asked to bat first, the Titans got off to a strong start. Sai Sudharsan was dismissed early in the third over, bowled by Mukesh Kumar for 12 runs. Jos Buttler, taking Sudharsan’s place, quickly signaled his intent, attacking bowlers Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar with aggressive shots. Buttler raced to a dazzling half-century in just 24 balls, finishing his innings at 52 runs from 27 balls, which included three fours and five sixes. His wicket fell to Kuldeep Yadav, who struck in his opening over.

Partnerships Build Pressure on DC

Washington Sundar then joined Gill at the crease, and the duo forged a significant partnership, amassing 104 runs together. Gill took the lead in this collaboration, scoring a dynamic 70 runs off 45 balls, including four fours and five sixes. Gill’s innings, characterized by aggressive batting, ended when he was caught out by Nitish Rana off the bowling of Lungi Ngidi.

Sundar’s Productive Contribution

Sundar continued the momentum and soon brought up his own half-century, contributing 55 runs off 32 balls with six fours and two sixes. However, he wasn’t able to extend his innings significantly, attempting to push the score higher in the death overs. As the innings concluded, Glen Phillips and Rahul Tewatia added valuable runs, pushing the final score to 210 for four.

Bowling Efforts from Delhi Capitals

For the Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar proved to be the standout bowler, securing two wickets. Both Lungi Ngidi and Kuldeep Yadav contributed with one wicket each, but the overall bowling effort faced challenges against the aggressive batting of the Titans.

Delhi Capitals Aim to Maintain Undefeated Streak

The Delhi Capitals entered this match unbeaten in the tournament, having secured two victories previously. They now face a target of 211 runs to maintain their winning streak. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans are on the lookout for their first win of the season and will seek to defend the sizeable total they set.
