IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans Outclass Sunrisers Hyderabad with a 7-Wicket Win

The Gujarat Titans (GT) delivered an outstanding performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2025 clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, securing a seven-wicket victory. This result marked SRH’s fourth consecutive defeat, leaving them languishing at the bottom of the points table, while GT continued their winning momentum, climbing to third place.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, GT captain Shubman Gill made an astute decision that paid dividends. Mohammed Siraj was the standout bowler for Gujarat, claiming four wickets for just 17 runs and dismantling SRH’s batting line-up. The Sunrisers struggled throughout their innings, managing only 152/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite brief resistance from Nitish Kumar Reddy (31 off 34 balls) and Heinrich Klaasen (27 off 19 balls), SRH’s batting lacked cohesion and failed to capitalise on opportunities.
In response, GT’s chase was anchored by Shubman Gill himself, who played a captain’s knock with an unbeaten 61 runs off 49 balls. Supported by Sai Sudharsan (34 off 28 balls) and Jos Buttler (29 off 18 balls), Gujarat comfortably reached the target with nine balls to spare, finishing at 153/3 in 18.3 overs.

Key Performances

Mohammed Siraj’s bowling brilliance was instrumental in restricting SRH to a below-par total. His ability to generate movement and accuracy proved too much for the Sunrisers’ batters, as he dismissed key players including Travis Head and Aniket Verma. Siraj’s figures of 4/17 were his best of the season so far and showcased his capability as a match-winner for GT.
Shubman Gill once again demonstrated why he is regarded as one of India’s finest young talents. Leading from the front, his composed innings ensured there were no hiccups in Gujarat’s chase. His ability to rotate strike while punishing loose deliveries kept the scoreboard ticking steadily.

SRH’s Struggles

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting continues to be a cause for concern this season. After scoring a record-breaking 286 in their opening match, their totals have progressively declined across subsequent games. In this match, their aggressive approach backfired yet again, with reckless shot selection leading to frequent dismissals. Big names like Travis Head and Ishan Kishan failed to make significant contributions, leaving the team vulnerable.
Under Pat Cummins’ leadership, SRH have struggled to find balance between aggression and control. Their inability to adapt to different match situations has cost them dearly this season. With only one win from five matches, they face an uphill battle to keep their playoff hopes alive.
For Gujarat Titans, this victory further solidifies their position as one of the most consistent teams in IPL 2025. With three wins from four matches, they appear well-balanced and confident under Shubman Gill’s captaincy.
