The CSR Journal Magazine

A recent incident aboard a train traveling from Bengaluru to Gujarat highlighted the swift action of Indian Railways staff when a toddler fell ill. On March 13, Bhavna, a dentist, recounted her distressing experience via an Instagram video, detailing how her young child became unwell during the trip. According to Bhavna, her baby started vomiting shortly after eating drumstick soup, which led to a moment of panic for the family.

In her video, Bhavna expressed her anxiety as she reached out to the train ticket examiner (TTE) to inquire about the possibility of acquiring medication. In a moment of urgency, she did not anticipate much assistance. However, the quick-thinking staff responded effectively, coordinating immediate medical help as the train approached Hindupur station.

Upon arrival, a doctor was on hand, ready to examine the child. The medical professional provided necessary treatment on the spot, alleviating the concerns of the family. Bhavna noted in her video that the railway staff not only acted promptly but also issued a formal bill for the services rendered, enhancing her appreciation for their professionalism and transparency.

The mother’s video, showcasing this unexpected but welcome assistance, garnered significant attention online, amassing over 2.7 million views. Commenters widely praised the railway employees for their rapid and effective response to a critical situation involving a young child. Many highlighted the importance of such timely intervention, especially when traveling with minors.

In the caption accompanying her post, Bhavna encapsulated her emotional journey, stating, “From panic to relief in a moving train. My baby needed help and it came faster than I imagined.” Her experience serves as a reminder of the unforeseen challenges faced during travel and the valuable role that responsive assistance can play in those moments.
