A tragic incident has transpired in Gurugram’s Sector 37 where a three-year-old girl was reportedly raped and strangled by her neighbor. The child was allegedly lured away from her home located in a nearby village by the accused, identified as Shivanath, who hails from the Supaul district in Bihar. According to police statements, the incident occurred around 7 PM on Thursday.

Investigation Developments

The investigation commenced after the child’s family reported her missing when she did not return home. Police teams were promptly dispatched to the area, and CCTV footage was analyzed. The footage revealed a youth, later identified as Shivanath, taking the child away. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was apprehended the same night based on the findings from the footage and other evidence linking him to the crime.

Crime Execution

According to police officials, Shivanath allegedly led the child nearly four kilometers away to a secluded area. Reports indicated that he sexually assaulted the minor before strangling her in an attempt to eliminate any evidence of the crime. It is also suspected that he buried the body in the same location.

Legal Actions

As a result of the child’s father’s complaint, a case was filed against Shivanath under applicable sections of the law at the Sector 37 police station in Gurugram. Sandeep Turan, the spokesperson for the police, stated that during interrogation, Shivanath admitted to his profession at a scrap factory in Sector 37. He disclosed the timeline of the events that led to the crime occurring on the evening of February 19, highlighting the disturbing nature of the case.
