Govinda Criticizes Karan Johar Over Film Title ‘Govinda Naam Mera’

The CSR Journal Magazine

Well-known actor Govinda has publicly criticized filmmaker Karan Johar regarding the title of the 2022 movie ‘Govinda Naam Mera’. He claims that the film was created using his name without his consent, and he suggested that the storyline has parallels to his personal life. Govinda’s comments were made during an interaction with a news agency, which have since ignited discussions on social media platforms.

Comments on Film’s Storyline and Personal Life

In his remarks, Govinda emphasized his dissatisfaction with the film’s title, stating, “Kisi ne mere naam se picture bana di,” which translates to “Someone made a film using my name.” He directed his comments towards Karan Johar, who produced the film under Dharma Productions, indicating that the filmmakers should have considered the implications of using his name. Govinda also noted that certain plot elements felt alarmingly similar to issues surrounding his own marital life, pointing out the film’s central theme of “Ek pati, ek patni aur ek girlfriend,” or “One husband, one wife, and one girlfriend.”

Call for Sensitivity in Handling Personal Matters

Addressing the situation, Govinda remarked, “Mazaak har jagah achha nahi lagta,” meaning “Jokes don’t look good everywhere.” He reiterated the need for sensitivity when dealing with such matters, adding, “No misbehave please.” Additionally, in a significant statement, he mentioned, “Main unko Rajinikanth treatment doonga,” or “I will give him the Rajinikanth treatment,” though he did not clarify what he meant by this expression.
