Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, has made a significant donation of Rs 11 crore to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This financial support aims to assist in the relief and rehabilitation efforts in areas impacted by recent flooding in the state. Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed gratitude for the contribution, highlighting its importance in enhancing the state’s ability to provide assistance to thousands of affected individuals.

The flooding has caused substantial damage across various regions, necessitating urgent relief operations. Adani Foundation’s Relief Programme in Upper Assam

In addition to the financial donation, the Adani Foundation has initiated a comprehensive flood relief programme in Upper Assam, with support from Adani Smart Meter and Guwahati International Airport Limited. This initiative targets approximately 8,000 families in the Nazira Sub-Division of Sivasagar district and the Silapathar area in Dhemaji district. The relief kits being distributed contain essential items such as food, medicines, and sanitation supplies to help meet the families’ immediate requirements as they begin the recovery process.

The relief effort encompasses 14 villages in the Nazira area, including Gurmur Miri (Nepali Basti), Santak Grant, and Baligaon, among others. The programme aims to provide assistance even to the most remote villages, ensuring that communities significantly affected by the flooding receive timely support. Efforts are ongoing to navigate challenging terrains to deliver essential supplies to those in need.

The Adani Foundation regards this relief effort as just the initial phase of a more extensive recovery plan. As families begin to rebuild their lives after the floods, the Foundation is committed to continuing its support in the recovery process.
