Four Indians Remain Hospitalised Following Houthi’s Atack in Saudi

The CSR Journal Magazine

Four Indians injured in a recent attack in Saudi Arabia on October 10 are currently receiving treatment in hospital, with four of them in intensive care, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The incident, which reportedly injured twelve individuals, has drawn significant attention and concern from the Indian government.

Tragically, one of the injured individuals succumbed to his injuries, and his last rites were conducted in Riyadh with support from the Indian embassy. As per the MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, of the eleven individuals who survived the attack, three have been discharged from the hospital. The remaining eight continue to receive medical care, with four in critical condition in the ICU.

Embassy officials are maintaining regular contact with the injured individuals and their families to provide support and updates on their health status. Jaiswal emphasised that the Indian government is committed to ensuring the well-being of its citizens abroad, particularly in times of crisis. The embassy’s proactive engagement with the families of the injured reflects this commitment.

Condemnation of Attacks on Civilian Infra

The MEA has condemned the recent wave of attacks on civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including a notable assault on Aramco headquarters. Jaiswal stated that these attacks are unacceptable and called for an immediate cessation of such actions.

He reiterated India’s solidarity with the Saudi government and its people, expressing hope for a swift return to peace and stability in the region. Jaiswal highlighted the ongoing threat posed by these attacks, which have been part of a broader pattern targeting various facilities in Saudi Arabia.

The Indian government stands firmly against any actions that undermine the sovereignty of nations and the safety of civilians. India’s position is clear: the attacks on civilian infrastructure must come to an end, and the country is prepared to support Saudi Arabia in its efforts to maintain security and peace.

Impact on Travel and Security Concerns

The recent attacks have led to significant disruptions in flight schedules, particularly affecting Indian airlines and passengers travelling to and from Saudi Arabia. Jaiswal reported that flights to and from major cities such as Riyadh, Dammam, Medina, and Jeddah have been impacted, causing inconvenience for many travellers.

In light of these developments, the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia has been actively communicating with the Indian community. It has issued advisories to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in the region. The embassy is providing timely updates to travellers and those stranded due to the disruptions, demonstrating its commitment to assisting the community during this challenging period.

Concerns regarding the security of critical infrastructure have been heightened following these attacks, particularly as they involve missile and drone strikes reportedly carried out by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The situation remains fluid, and the Indian government continues to monitor developments closely, urging an immediate halt to any further attacks on civilian facilities.
