Pak’s Army Chief Asim Munir Raises Concerns Over Hindu-Jewish Relations

The CSR Journal Magazine

Iran’s top security official, Mohsen Rezaei, has stated that Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, expressed apprehensions regarding the strengthening ties between Hindus and Jews, which he alleged are aimed against Muslims and Pakistan. These comments were reportedly made during a four-nation security meeting held in Tehran on October 26.

A video of Rezaei’s remarks, which also included Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, portrayed the India-Israel relationship as a potential threat to Pakistan and the broader Muslim community. According to a report by Lahore-based news outlet 24 News HD, Rezaei discussed Munir’s concerns during an interview with Iranian state broadcaster IRIB. The meeting included representatives from Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, amid rising tensions involving Israel and the United States.

Field Marshal Munir represented Pakistan, while Kalin was the Turkish delegate, and the Saudi and Iranian delegations were headed by Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and Rezaei, respectively. This four-nation dialogue followed Munir’s earlier visit to Tehran, where he was seen engaging with Rezaei and other Iranian officials. Footage released by Al Arabiya on October 20 depicted Rezaei as reserved while greeting Munir, indicating a formal atmosphere during their discussions.

Concerns Raised Over Regional Alliances

In the aftermath of the October 26 meeting, several Pakistani analysts, including journalist Najam Sethi, have highlighted Munir’s warnings regarding the Hindu-Jewish alliance. Sethi mentioned on his YouTube channel that Munir had categorised this alliance as a significant threat, emphasising a “geopolitical convergence against Muslims and Pakistan.”

This rhetoric aligns with Munir’s previous statements, which have often invoked religious distinctions between Hindus and Muslims. Just days before the meeting, India’s National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval, reportedly held a telephone conversation with Rezaei to discuss recent regional and international developments.

Munir has consistently emphasised the differences between the two communities, asserting that they are fundamentally distinct in their beliefs and customs. In April 2025, prior to a Pakistan-backed terror attack in Pahalgam, Munir intensified his rhetoric, reiterating the dissimilarities between Hindus and Muslims. His latest remarks, as attributed by Rezaei, appear to follow a similar pattern, now including references to Jewish communities.

Deepening India-Israel Relations

The relationship between India and Israel has been evolving, focusing on defence, intelligence sharing, counterterrorism, trade, agriculture, and technology. This partnership was elevated to a Special Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel in February 2026. Israel has also publicly supported India’s right to self-defence during various military operations.

These include Operation Sindoor against Pakistan in May 2025. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has proposed a “hexagon of alliances” involving India, Israel, Greece, and Cyprus to counter perceived threats from radical groups. In October, he identified India as a crucial ally in these efforts, particularly given concerns about a potentially hostile US administration in the future.

Rezaei’s comments regarding Munir’s warnings reflect ongoing regional tensions. The meeting on October 26 was part of broader efforts to manage conflict and prevent military escalation. However, the remarks attributed to Munir remain based on Rezaei’s account of a private diplomatic discussion, and their veracity has not been independently confirmed.
