The CSR Journal Magazine

A foreign traveler, identified as Ines Faria, has alleged that she faced harassment while in Mumbai and has shared her account on social media. Faria posted a video on Instagram recounting the incident, which occurred during her two-month visit to India. She remarked that this was her first experience of such nature in the country, mentioning, “Most of my experience has been beautiful, kind and welcoming. But this day was different.”

Details of the Incident Shared Online

According to her Instagram post, Faria and a companion were allegedly pursued by a group of men who continuously requested photographs, despite her repeated refusals. She expressed discomfort with the attention, noting, “They kept following us, asking for photos even after I said no multiple times. I didn’t feel comfortable, and they were super pushy.” The situation escalated over a span of 15 minutes, prompting her to physically push them away in an effort to regain personal space.

Emphasis on Consent and Personal Safety

Faria highlighted the importance of consent and personal safety in her social media post. She stated, “Just a reminder that ‘no’ is a full sentence. And your safety and comfort always come first.” Her message emphasizes the need for respect towards individual’s boundaries in public spaces.
