Father Rapes 13-Year-Old Stepdaughter in UP; Man Rapes 3-Month-Old Niece in MP

The CSR Journal Magazine

Two deeply disturbing cases of sexual assault against minors, one in Uttar Pradesh and another in Madhya Pradesh, have sent shockwaves across the country, once again drawing attention to the growing concern over child safety within homes and families.

Uttar Pradesh: Stepfather Accused of Raping 13-Year-Old Girl

In Uttar Pradesh’s Sant Kabir Nagar district, police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter. The accused was taken into custody on Sunday following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, who is serving as a woman constable in the police department.

According to officials, the incident allegedly occurred on December 25 when the girl was alone at home. The crime came to light only after the child gathered the courage to confide in her schoolteacher, who immediately alerted authorities. Police acted swiftly after receiving the formal complaint.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar Singh confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 65(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused has been sent to judicial custody, and further investigation is underway.

The girl, a Class 5 student, lived with her mother and stepfather in a rented house. Officials said the family structure and close proximity allowed the alleged crime to go unnoticed initially, highlighting the risks faced by children even within seemingly secure environments.

Madhya Pradesh: Infant Assaulted by Uncle in Morena

In another horrifying incident, police in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly raping his three-month-old niece. The accused, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, lived in the same joint household as the victim.

According to police, the incident occurred in the Station Road police station area. The infant was rushed to the district hospital in critical condition and later referred for advanced medical care. Authorities confirmed that the accused was detained immediately after the complaint and formally arrested following preliminary questioning.

Additional Superintendent of Police Surendra Pratap Singh stated that strict legal action has been initiated, and the case is being treated with utmost seriousness due to the age of the victim and the nature of the crime.

A Grim Reminder of Hidden Dangers

Both cases underline a troubling reality: children are often most vulnerable in spaces presumed to be safest, within their own homes and among trusted relatives. Law enforcement officials have reiterated that crimes under the POCSO Act attract severe punishment and assured that investigations will be conducted swiftly and transparently.

Child rights activists have called for increased awareness, better reporting mechanisms, and stronger community vigilance to ensure early detection and prevention of such crimes. The incidents have reignited demands for comprehensive child protection policies, counseling support for victims, and strict monitoring of offenders.

As the legal process unfolds in both cases, the incidents stand as a grim reminder of the urgent need to safeguard children and ensure that justice is delivered without delay.
