Exclusive Screening of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana: Part I’ in Los Angeles Wows Audience

The CSR Journal Magazine

A rough cut of the much-anticipated film Ramayana: Part I was presented to a select audience in Los Angeles on Monday, providing an early look at the epic ahead of its expected Diwali release.

The screening took place at the Cinemark Playa Vista theatre, where attendees aged between 18 and 60 were invited to experience the film in its developmental stages. Initial audience reactions have reportedly been highly favorable, with many praising the film’s ambitious scale, impressive visual effects, and compelling storytelling.

Film Continues to Evolve Based on Audience Feedback

The version screened was a preliminary cut, aimed at gathering audience insights rather than serving as the final product. The filmmakers intend to use the feedback received from this screening to refine the film further. Producer Namit Malhotra, who has invested approximately Rs 4,000 crore in the project, discussed the hurdles associated with producing a film of such magnitude during a recent appearance on the Game Changers podcast. He noted that while the shooting for Part I is nearing completion, the scope of the project is vast and ambitious.

Producer Reflects on Financial Aspects of the Project

Malhotra remarked on the uncertainty surrounding the film’s budget, stating, “When I began planning the film, our vision was substantial. Many involved, including the cast, questioned whether I had sufficient funds to bring this vision to life. I am pleased to say that I have completed the first part without incurring any debt.” He emphasized the unpredictable nature of the project’s finances, adding, “People often inquire about the final budget, and I have no clear answer. I focus on ensuring that we are creating a top-quality product without compromise.”

Plans for Future Installments and Character Launch Event

The Ramayana project is envisioned as a two-part film, with the second installment set to be released during Diwali next year. An official character unveiling event is scheduled for April this year in Mumbai, coinciding with the Ram Navami celebrations.

The series features notable actors, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Ravi Dubey in the role of Laxman, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Yash taking on the character of Ravan. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part I is projected to premiere in November this year as a major Diwali offering.
