Diljit Dosanjh Criticises Pro-Khalistan Disruption at Calgary Concert

The CSR Journal Magazine

Diljit Dosanjh has come under scrutiny after a recent incident at his concert in Calgary as part of his Aura World Tour. The disruption allegedly involved the display of pro-Khalistani flags by some attendees, which led to interruptions during his performance. In response to this situation, Dosanjh took to social media, providing clarity on his position regarding the events that unfolded during the concert.

Statements From Diljit Dosanjh

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Dosanjh expressed his annoyance regarding efforts to disturb his concerts and the fans that attend them. Translated from Punjabi, he stated that while it is acceptable for individuals to protest outside the venue, attempting to enter and disrupt the concert is unacceptable. He noted, “If someone brings a banner or flag, it usually means they want to indicate their support. However, if they are outside abusing my fans and then doing the same inside, that behaviour will not be tolerated.”

Dosanjh clarified that his issue was not with any specific flags or banners, but rather with the motivations behind such actions. He informed the security personnel to remove anyone who tried to disrupt the show. “It is not about any particular banner. The focus is on the intention behind it,” he explained, emphasising the importance of sharing love and peace rather than spreading misinformation regarding his stance.

The Calgary show, held in May 2026, was marked by his brief pause to address attendees when disturbances arose from the waving of pro-Khalistani flags. He reiterated to the audience that while everyone has the right to their beliefs, causing disruption at his concert was inappropriate. Dosanjh’s comments seek to uphold a respectful atmosphere for his fans attending his performances around the world.

Reactions and Criticism Faced

The singer also discussed the polarising criticism he faces from different factions. He remarked that some elements within India label him “Khalistani,” while abroad, extremist groups refer to him as “India Wala.” This highlights the complexities of his position and how various groups perceive him, which has contributed to the ongoing controversy surrounding his public image.

Issues intensified following his participation in the television show Kaun Banega Crorepati in October 2025, where a respectful interaction with Amitabh Bachchan resulted in backlash from groups like Sikhs for Justice. They subsequently issued threats to boycott his international tour, showcasing the challenges Dosanjh encounters regarding public perception.

In the face of these pressures, Dosanjh remains focused on his primary objective: entertainment. He maintains that his goal is to promote Punjabi culture through his music and create a positive impact around the globe, regardless of the controversies that may arise.
