Controversy Over Nora Fatehi’s ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ Intensifies as Rakshita Questions Industry’s Reaction

The CSR Journal Magazine

The song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ from the film KD: The Devil, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, has ignited significant controversy due to its explicit lyrics and suggestive choreography. The track has drawn criticism from industry organizations and public figures, particularly the All Indian Cine Workers Association, which has raised objections.

In the wake of complaints submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Hindi version of the song has been removed from YouTube.

Rakshita Defends Her Husband Amid Criticism

Amid the increasing backlash, Rakshita, a former actress and the spouse of the film’s director, Prem, has utilized social media to respond to the issue. In a series of Instagram posts, she addressed the notion of “selective outrage,” pointing out that past Bollywood songs with similar themes had not faced the same level of scrutiny. While she refrained from directly defending the controversial content, she highlighted that earlier works like ‘Peelings’ and ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ were received with less outrage.

Concerns Over Abuse and Respectful Dialogue

Rakshita expressed her discontent with the criticism directed at her husband, stating that while people are entitled to question a director’s work, abusive comments are unjustifiable. She emphasized the importance of maintaining respect in public discourse, especially towards individuals in the limelight. Citing her own experiences with online trolling, she pointed out that personal attacks can lead to undue harm.

Bigger Picture of Content Development

Addressing the broader context of film content, Rakshita remarked that contemporary audiences are increasingly exposed to various themes in cinema, including violence and sexual content. She argued that being critical of a filmmaker’s approach should not devolve into personal attacks.

Highlighting the challenges faced by the Kannada film industry, she noted that gaining traction in a competitive market remains a significant obstacle for regional filmmakers.
