Nari Shakti 3.0, a national conference focused on women’s preventive healthcare, concluded on October 1 in New Delhi. Organised by the Mediways Health Foundation, the event was titled “Women’s Preventive Healthcare: Intelligent Systems & National Action for Viksit Bharat.” The conference aimed to formulate strategies to enhance preventive healthcare for women beyond mere awareness and routine screenings.

The event took place at The Leela Palace, attracting notable figures from sectors including healthcare, governance, public policy, and technology. Hon’ble Smt. Vijaya K. Rahatkar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, inaugurated the conference, highlighting the integral relationship between women’s health and national development. She emphasised that prioritising women in healthcare not only empowers individuals but also strengthens families and communities.

In attendance were prominent individuals such as Shri Kishor Makwana, Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, and Smt. Sunita Duggal, former Member of Parliament. The conference began with discussions on early diagnosis and cancer prevention, underscoring the significance of screening and HPV vaccination.

Key Discussions on Preventive Strategies

A session titled ‘Strengthening Early Detection Pathways’ addressed the continuum from screening to post-treatment care, with contributions from experts like Dr. Prakhar Singh and others. The discussion examined lifestyle choices and nutrition as pivotal factors in preventing diseases. The speakers stressed that implementing systematic approaches to early detection is essential, especially in managing women’s health issues effectively.

Another noteworthy aspect underlined during the conference was the integration of preventive healthcare within organisational policies. The session led by Harsh Srivastava focused on creating environments in workplaces that advocate for women’s health. Discussions highlighted the need for comprehensive support throughout various stages of a woman’s life, including menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause.

Moreover, the necessity for workplace health programmes to extend beyond screening initiatives was emphasised. Experts agreed on the importance of flexibility in health consultations, timely referrals, and ongoing follow-ups. Panel discussions led by Dr. Bhavani Nair and others pointed out that corporate social responsibility (CSR) should move towards sustainable health programmes rather than episodic health camps.

Technology and Future Directions in Women’s Health

The second day of the conference concentrated on the role of technology in enhancing public health systems. Ms. Pragya Sharma discussed the potential for integrating traditional medicine with AI to refine healthcare delivery. The session ‘AI and Women’s Health’ moderated by Varuni Trivedi featured discussions on the importance of accurate data and how technology can personalise care, facilitate early detection, and empower healthcare providers.

Experts also deliberated on the need for improved public health systems for women, emphasising community involvement and the importance of continued treatment. A panel comprising professionals from various healthcare fields stressed the significance of primary care and early detection in ensuring women’s health is prioritised at every level.

Dr. Urvashi Mittal, Chief Patron, reiterated the interconnectedness of women’s health and societal sustainability. She asserted that ensuring access to preventive healthcare would yield benefits that extend to families and communities, reinforcing the need for comprehensive, long-term healthcare systems. The conference concluded with a clear call for collaboration among healthcare professionals, government bodies, and the private sector to advance women’s health initiatives within the framework of Viksit Bharat.
