Meerut Man Caught in Similar Act
This isn’t the first time such behavior has been reported in the state. On May 27, police in Meerut arrested a man, Shoaib from Kurali village, after a video showed him spitting on rotis while cooking at a dhaba.
He was arrested by a police team led by Sub-Inspector Shiv Kumar Sharma near the Jani canal bridge. A case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at the Jani police station. The arrest followed direct orders from the Senior Superintendent of Police, reflecting the seriousness with which authorities are treating these cases.
Lucknow man Caught spitting in Milk
In another unsettling episode, a milkman in Lucknow was detained on July 7 after a home CCTV camera appeared to show him spitting into milk before delivering it. The suspect, identified as Mohammad Sharif alias Pappu, was caught after Vinay Khand resident Lav Shukla checked his security footage and reported the incident to Gomti Nagar police.
“He is being questioned, and further legal action will follow,” said SHO Brijesh Tiwari.
Rising Incidents Prompt Statewide Crackdown
These repeated cases of food tampering, ranging from contaminated rotis to adulterated milk and juices have sparked significant public concern. In response, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a comprehensive crackdown on food safety violations.
Key directives include mandatory CCTV installation in eateries, stricter hygiene regulations for food handlers, and public display of owner details at food establishments. Additionally, the state is considering amendments to the Food Safety and Standards Act for stricter penalties.
Public Appeal: Report Suspicious Acts
Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious food handling to help prevent such health hazards. As food safety becomes a growing concern in the state, these recent arrests serve as a stern reminder that such violations will not be taken lightly.
