Burglars Execute Bold Theft of 251 Watches in Jaipur’s Tonk Road

The CSR Journal Magazine

A theft resembling a scene from a Bollywood film unfolded on Jaipur’s Tonk Road during the early hours of Thursday. A group of burglars reportedly broke into a luxury watch showroom, absconding with approximately 251 watches valued at around Rs 3 crore. The incident occurred at The Watch Factory, which is an official Rado retail outlet.

CCTV footage from the showroom shows the heist taking place around 4:30 am, even as vehicles continued to pass by. Upon arrival at the location, the burglars set up a curtain outside the showroom to obscure their activities from onlookers. Several members of the group positioned themselves behind the curtain and started tampering with the main shutter using an iron rod.

This audacious approach added an unusual flair to the scene, highlighting the thieves’ apparent planning and coordination. Remarkably, the burglary occurred amidst regular traffic, with cars visible in the footage as the group operated behind their makeshift cover. This aspect of the robbery has drawn significant attention, given the public visibility of the crime.

Robbers Assign Specific Roles During Heist

The CCTV footage suggests that the burglars strategically assigned roles among themselves during the operation. While some individuals focused on breaking the shutter, one participant was stationed outside to monitor the road and surroundings. This division of labour appeared to facilitate the swift execution of the robbery. Once the shutter was successfully breached, two individuals entered the showroom.

They quickly proceeded to remove multiple luxury watches from display cases, transferring them into bags. Following the theft, the robbers exited the showroom while carrying the stolen items and fled the scene. Preliminary reports indicate that around 251 watches were taken, with an estimated overall value of Rs 3 crore. The severity of the incident has raised alarms, prompting a detailed investigation by the local police.

Police Investigation Underway

An extensive police investigation is now underway, with authorities reviewing the CCTV footage in an effort to identify the thieves and trace their movements before and after the crime. Officers are also assessing the possibility that the burglars may have conducted prior reconnaissance to plan the theft more effectively. There is an ongoing examination of a potential connection with the Ghodasan gang, although police have yet to officially confirm this link.

The investigation is focused on analysing the footage for any useful clues regarding the thieves, their vehicle, and their route to and from the scene. Authorities are working diligently to verify the exact number and estimated value of the stolen watches from the Rado store. As the investigation progresses, more information is anticipated, and the police remain committed to resolving this high-profile theft.
