BJP MLA and RG Kar Victim’s Mother Demands Arrest of Mamata Banerjee

The CSR Journal Magazine

The mother of a victim involved in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case has heightened her accusations against former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, labelling her as the “head of criminals.” This follows the recent suspension of three police officers by the West Bengal government due to alleged mishandling of the case. BJP MLA Ratna Debnath addressed reporters, claiming that if Banerjee were apprehended, it would reveal a multitude of individuals involved in the crime.

Debnath expressed concern over the absence of investigations into people who supposedly dined with her daughter on the night of the incident, emphasising that only the college’s principal is currently incarcerated. The victim’s family has called for a thorough inquiry into those who may have connections to the case.

Claims of High-Level Conspiracy and Cover-Up

In her statements to the media, the victim’s mother accused the state leadership and officials from the health department of being complicit in what she described as a high-level conspiracy surrounding her daughter’s tragic death. She specifically mentioned that the college authorities, along with Mamata Banerjee, bear responsibility for the incident. Ratna Debnath also implicated Narayanswaroop Nigam, the former Health Secretary, in her assertions.

Further deepening the allegations, Sekharranjan Debnath, the victim’s father, claimed that attempts to obscure the facts of the case originated directly from Mamata Banerjee. He stated that an IPS officer had been involved in efforts to cover up the crime from the very start, an assertion he insists has been substantiated. He emphasised that timely intervention could have alleviated many complications surrounding the case.

Despite their strong accusations against the former administration, the Debnath family acknowledged recent actions taken by the current government led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Sekharranjan Debnath conveyed gratitude towards the new leadership for its decisive measures against police personnel involved in the case.

Investigation Launched Against Police Officials

In tandem with these developments, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that investigations have commenced against senior police officers, including former Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal. Addressing the media in Howrah, Adhikari noted that the handling of the RG Kar Medical College case had been unsatisfactory, necessitating an inquiry into actions taken by several senior officials. He referred to specific allegations of mishandling and suggested that there had been attempts to offer monetary inducements to the victim’s family.

Adhikari’s statements reflect a commitment to transparency in the ongoing investigation. He remarked that disciplinary actions taken against implicated officers are part of an effort to restore public trust in the police force. The Chief Minister reiterated the urgency of bringing any culpable parties to justice, thus ensuring that the truth around the incident comes to light.

As the investigation unfolds, there are expectations that it may unearth various connections and lead to broader accountability for those involved in the tragic events surrounding the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital incident. The case remains a focal point for discussions about governance, accountability, and the importance of ethical conduct within public service.
