BJP Leader’s Son Praval Gupta Dies by Suicide, Blames Wife in Video

The CSR Journal Magazine

A tragic incident unfolded in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where a 26-year-old man, Praval Gupta, reportedly took his own life by consuming a poisonous substance on November 1, 2026. This occurred just a day before his first wedding anniversary. In a video recorded prior to his death, Praval accused his wife, Sneha Gupta, and her family of physical abuse, mental harassment, and coercion regarding property matters.

Praval, who was the son of Rajiv Gupta, the vice-president of the BJP’s Kankarkhera mandal, expressed in the video, “I am going to end my life today. The main reason behind such a big decision is my wife, Sneha Gupta, and her family.” The couple had married on November 2, 2022, and Praval alleged a series of grievances against his wife.

He claimed that Sneha had subjected him to physical assaults and had pressured him to transfer property into her name. Additionally, he mentioned that she would serve him burnt flatbreads and would initiate arguments when he raised concerns about the food. Praval further alleged that Sneha insisted on living separately from his parents, which led to significant marital discord.

Family Dynamics and Allegations

In the video, Praval detailed his struggles after moving in with Sneha. Following the birth of their daughter, he expressed a desire to return to his parental home, a request he claimed was met with hostility from his wife. He alleged that Sneha verbally abused him and created conflicts over his wish to return home.

Praval also recounted an incident where he sought assistance from his mother to help care for Sneha and their newborn, only for his wife to allegedly assault his mother. He claimed that despite handing over his entire salary to Sneha, she continued to mistreat his family, including making derogatory remarks about his sister during her visits.

Working at a private firm in Ghaziabad, Praval alleged that his wife, influenced by her father, Rajan Gupta, threatened him with false accusations that could lead to legal troubles. He mentioned that his in-laws had repeatedly threatened him with fabricated claims, contributing to his emotional distress.

Counselling and Final Moments

On October 31, 2026, Praval and his family attended a counselling session at the Family Counselling Centre, where issues of marital discord were discussed. He claimed that during the session, Sneha accused him of substance abuse and physical assault, allegations he vehemently denied, instead accusing her of the same.

The following day, Praval was discovered unconscious in the Cantonment area of Meerut after allegedly consuming poison. Authorities were alerted, and he was initially taken to Kailash Hospital before being referred to a higher medical facility due to his deteriorating condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries around 9.30 pm.

In the aftermath of his death, Praval’s parents expressed their grief and called for action against Sneha. Rajiv Gupta, his father, highlighted the irony of celebrating his son’s wedding anniversary just a year prior, now facing the tragedy of his death. Kiran Gupta, Praval’s mother, accused Sneha of pressuring her son to distance himself from his family and demanded accountability for her actions.

Shiv Thakur, a senior police officer, confirmed that authorities were notified of the suicide attempt on November 1. He stated that Praval was promptly taken to a hospital, where he later died. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the case, including the couple’s marital issues and their counselling sessions.

Thakur assured that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined, and appropriate legal actions will follow based on the findings. The investigation aims to clarify the events leading up to Praval’s tragic decision and address the allegations made in his video.
