Police in Bihar’s Supaul district have uncovered a shocking murder conspiracy involving a woman and her childhood friend. The investigation revealed that Soni, wife of Shashiranjan Chaudhary, allegedly joined hands with her lover Brajesh to arrange a contract killing worth ₹1.5 lakh. The murder attempt failed, and Chaudhary, though seriously injured in the November 26 shooting, is currently stable and recovering.

Attack Initially Appeared as Random Shooting

On November 26, Chaudhary was shot by unidentified assailants while returning home after dinner in Triveniganj’s market area. At first, the incident seemed like a random act of violence. However, a detailed probe by the police, including evidence collection and witness statements, pointed toward internal family disputes, prompting investigators to question the victim’s relatives.

Illicit Relationship Leads to Murder Conspiracy

Police soon discovered that Soni and Brajesh, both residents of the Madhepura district, were central figures behind the assassination plan. Authorities revealed that the pair had met in Madhepura to finalize a ₹1.5 lakh contract to eliminate Chaudhary. Leveraging his local contacts, Brajesh then arranged hired shooters to carry out the attack.

Four Arrested, Weapons and Cash Recovered

During the operation, police arrested four individuals, including Soni and Brajesh. Officials also seized ₹62,000 in cash and weapons believed to have been used during the attack. Superintendent of Police Sarath R. S. confirmed that the conspiracy stemmed from Soni’s relationship with Brajesh, and both were actively involved in coordinating the murder attempt.

Superintendent of Police Sarath R. S. said, “The duo finalised the contract killing for 1.5 lakh during a meeting in Madhepura. Both Soni and Brajesh belong to Madhepura district and had allegedly plotted the murder together.”

Victim Out of Danger After Timely Medical Care

On the night of the incident, Chaudhary was shot shortly after attending a local event. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where doctors managed to stabilize him. According to medical officials, he is now out of danger. A team led by the Triveniganj DSP meticulously reconstructed the chain of events, ultimately exposing the conspiracy fueled by the extramarital affair.
