Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced three key initiatives focused on women’s safety, empowerment, and financial independence. The schemes reflect the state government’s efforts to strengthen security while expanding opportunities for women.
‘Police Didi’ Initiative to Strengthen Safety
Under the ‘Police Didi’ campaign, female police personnel will be deployed at schools, colleges, and other educational institutions to improve the safety of girls and women.
To support the mobility of women police personnel, around 2,700 scooters and more than 2,000 motorcycles are being allocated.
40,000 Women in Bihar Police
Choudhary said approximately 40,000 women are currently serving in the Bihar Police. He also highlighted improvements in the response time of the Dial 112 emergency helpline, which has fallen to under 10 minutes.
The government aims to reduce the response time further to between five and seven minutes.
JEEViKA Boosting Women’s Financial Independence
Highlighting the role of women in Bihar’s economy, Choudhary said around 1.81 crore women are associated with the JEEViKA initiative, including more than 70 lakh JEEViKA Didis.
He said approximately 43 lakh women have achieved ‘Lakhpati Didi’ status, with the government targeting another 100,000 women for the category over the next two years.
The Chief Minister emphasized that greater financial independence among women can strengthen household economies.
Women’s Role in Developed India
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, Choudhary said women’s participation will be essential to achieving the country’s development goals.
He also highlighted improvements in Bihar’s roads and infrastructure, noting positive remarks about the state’s travel facilities following Sudha Murty’s recent visit.
Student Support Camp to Address Grievances
As part of a related initiative, Choudhary announced the ‘Student Support Camp’ to provide students with a direct platform to raise their concerns.
The camps will be organized monthly on the fourth Tuesday at educational institutions, allowing students to present their grievances directly to government officials.
Student Portal and Helpline Introduced
The government will also provide a Student Support Portal and Helpline 1100, enabling students to register complaints and track their progress.
Choudhary said the initiative aims to ensure that students’ concerns are heard and resolved efficiently.
