Amit Shah to Lead ‘Save Democracy, Reject Mobocracy’ March in Hyderabad on Nov 2

The CSR Journal Magazine

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to spearhead the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) counter-offensive against the Opposition’s ‘vote chori’ campaign. This initiative includes foot marches scheduled in Hyderabad and Karnal, Haryana, following the Congress rally in Delhi on November 1. The Telangana BJP plans to organise a padyatra in Hyderabad on November 2, a day after the Congress holds a public demonstration at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital, where they will address allegations of vote theft.

The march will be conducted under the theme ‘Loktantra Bachao – Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy, End Mobocracy), as announced by Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao. This event aims to mobilise support in response to the Opposition’s claims regarding the electoral roll revision process.

Allegations Over Electoral Roll Revisions

Rao has accused the Congress party of propagating a misleading narrative concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He stated that the Congress is allegedly inciting unrest among the youth in both the state and the country. Rao emphasised the importance of the padyatra, asserting that it serves as a platform to counter what he perceives as anarchy instigated by the Congress party.

In the midst of ongoing political tensions surrounding the revision of electoral rolls, the Opposition has raised concerns about the purported removal of a significant number of voters’ names. In response, Rao challenged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to accompany him to his native village, Kondareddypalle, to verify the accuracy of voter deletions. He further urged Congress ministers to identify at least ten individuals whose names have been removed from the rolls and to clarify the reasons behind these deletions.

Rao reassured that legitimate voters who find their names missing from the rolls can seek re-inclusion. He also addressed claims made by the Opposition, asserting that the reported figure of 13 crore voters allegedly removed during the SIR exercise includes individuals classified as ‘Absent, Shifted, Dead, and Duplicate’ (ASDD).

Criticism of Congress and Upcoming Padyatra in Karnal

Rao has also expressed criticism towards Congress leaders from Telangana for attending the Delhi rally, arguing that their focus should be on addressing pressing issues within the state. He highlighted the severe water shortages affecting over 300 of Telangana’s 600 mandals, attributing this situation to a deficit in rainfall. Rao noted that approximately 8,000 water tankers are being deployed daily in Hyderabad due to the ongoing water crisis.

He called on Revanth Reddy to prioritise the concerns of local residents rather than engaging in political activities. Rao further commented on remarks made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that the Congress party struggles to accept the rise of a ‘chaiwala’ to the position of Prime Minister. He accused the Congress of being desperate to regain power following a series of electoral defeats since 2014.

In a separate event, Amit Shah will participate in a padyatra in Karnal on November 5, as part of the BJP’s ongoing campaign themed ‘Save Democracy, End Anarchy’. Scheduled to arrive at 10 am, Shah will be joined by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister Manohar Lal, and other senior party leaders. Preparations for this event have been reviewed by BJP state president Dr Archana Gupta, who has been coordinating logistics and security arrangements to ensure a successful programme.
