Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt’s former personal assistant Vedika Prakash Shetty has been arrested for allegedly misappropriating funds from the production house of the actor– Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt. Ltd., as well as from her personal accounts, confirmed by Juhu Police.
As per reports, Vedika has misappropriated Rs 76 lakh from both Alia’s personal and professional account. The investigation is underway and details are yet to be released, meanwhile Alia Bhatt and her team haven’t issued any statement on the issue.
A case was filed against Vedika by Alia’s mother and director at Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt. Ltd., Soni Razdan in January under different sections of fraud. Police said that Vedika Prakash Shetty is a resident of NG Cooperative Housing Society Road, Marol, and she has allegedly defrauded Alia’s company and personal account. “Vedika was responsible for maintaining finances of Alia Bhatt, but she misused her responsibility and committed the crime.”
Police further shared that Vedika worked with Alia till 2024, before she was taken out on grounds of misappropriated funds handling. “Vedika would raise different invoices and tell the actor that it was from her travel, parties and meeting. She did this financial misappropriation reportedly for over more than two years, from May 2022 to August 2024.”
As per the report Vedika had tactfully forged bills by using professional tools, so that they seem real and authentic. When Alia signed, the money was transferred to Vedika’s friend’s account and later sent to Vedika. Post the complaint was filed in January, Vedika kept on changing her locations, she was tracked in different states like Rajasthan, Karnataka, Pune, and eventually she was arrested in Bengaluru and brought to Mumbai.
Alia Bhatt was last seen in Vasan Bala’s Jigra, which wasn’t a hit and the box office performance wasn’t good. Bhatt will be next seen alongside her husband Ranbir Kapoor in Love and War.
