Noida Man Arrested for Operating Fake Aviation Job Scam

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Uttar Pradesh police have apprehended a man accused of orchestrating a fraudulent aviation recruitment scheme using a counterfeit website mimicking Noida International Airport. The individual, identified as Ajay, was arrested in Ghaziabad on August 21. This action followed the prior detention of five gang members, who were apprehended and subsequently jailed on July 8, as part of the same investigation.

Operations of the Fraudulent Gang

According to law enforcement officials, the alleged gang operated a fake call centre, named the Lambodar Institute, based in Sector 22, Noida. Members of this group posed as representatives from well-known airlines and aviation training organisations, making promises of employment and admissions to prospective candidates.

To capitalise on the aspirations of jobseekers, the gang reportedly solicited payments at various stages of the purported recruitment process. Fees were claimed for registration, admission, training, medical exams, uniforms, security deposits, and processing costs. It has been noted that these payments were often collected online.

In a bid to establish credibility, the gang allegedly fabricated offer letters, acceptance confirmations, certificates, and additional documentation. Police officials indicated that they also created a fake website under the name of Noida International Airport while misappropriating the names and logos of multiple legitimate institutions.

Financial Aspects of the Scam

Ongoing investigations are focused on dissecting the financial aspects of this scam and evaluating the involvement of any additional individuals. Authorities are working to ascertain the full extent of the fraudulent operations and identify any further accomplices.

As part of the investigation, police are also analysing the connections between the various accounts used and the operations of the Lambodar Institute, aiming to gather comprehensive evidence against the accused.

Warnings Issued to the Public

Following the recent arrests, police authorities have issued a cautionary statement aimed at jobseekers. They have encouraged individuals to verify job offers and admissions directly through the official websites of pertinent companies or educational institutions prior to making any financial commitments.

Authorities have also warned against trusting dubious websites, social media advertisements, and unsolicited phone calls that offer aviation-related employment or admissions. Jobseekers are urged to remain particularly vigilant if they receive offers without undergoing a legitimate selection process and are subsequently pressured for immediate payments.

If any individual suspects they may have fallen victim to cyber fraud, they are advised to report the matter by calling 1930 or using the government’s official cybercrime reporting portal. Law enforcement underscored the importance of being aware of potential scams, especially those targeting vulnerable jobseekers.
