Air Arabia Suspends Coimbatore-Sharjah Flights Until March 9 Due to Rising West Asia Tensions

The CSR Journal Magazine

Air Arabia has confirmed the cancellation of its flights between Coimbatore and Sharjah until March 9, citing increasing tensions in West Asia. Officials reported that both outbound flights from Coimbatore International Airport to Sharjah and the corresponding return flights have been called off. This decision was made as a precautionary measure due to the unsafe airspace conditions prevailing in the region.

The cancellations are expected to affect numerous passengers, including migrant workers and travelers who had intended to fly abroad during this period. In light of these developments, airport authorities have advised affected individuals to reach out to the airline for further updates. Passengers seeking more information have been guided to contact Air Arabia at 9087778081.

Air Arabia’s Temporary Adjustments

On March 5, Air Arabia announced that it has temporarily halted its flights to and from the UAE, effective until 15:00 UAE time on Monday. The airline noted that a limited number of flights are still operating but are subject to necessary operational and safety approvals from relevant authorities. Passengers booked on these limited flights will receive direct notifications, while those not contacted are advised against traveling to the airport.

Other Airlines Modifying Operations

In conjunction with Air Arabia’s changes, several other airlines are also adjusting their flight schedules in response to the ongoing disruptions linked to the conflict in Iran. SpiceJet has announced the operation of multiple special flights from the UAE to India, aiming to support affected passengers and address connectivity concerns. The airline stated that it is continuing to run additional services from major UAE cities, including Dubai and Fujairah, to Mumbai and Delhi, to facilitate the movement of stranded travelers between the two nations.

Emirates Airlines Updates

Emirates Airlines has also reported that all scheduled flights to and from Dubai will remain suspended until March 7 due to the ongoing airspace closures within the region. In an official statement, the airline mentioned that it is maintaining a limited flight schedule and prioritizing customers who hold existing bookings. Only those passengers with confirmed itineraries on operating flights will be accepted for transit through Dubai. Emirates has urged customers not to go to the airport unless they have received direct notifications from the airline or possess confirmed reservations for the limited flights available.

Regional Tensions Escalate

The suspension of flights comes amid escalating tensions in West Asia, which have reached a critical point following a joint military strike by the US and Israel on Iranian territory. This operation resulted in the deaths of significant figures, including Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has engaged in drone and missile attacks across various Arab nations. The ongoing conflict has persisted for six days, raising concerns over safety and security in the region.
