Actor Vijay Granted Permission to Campaign in Tiruchirappalli East

The CSR Journal Magazine

Vijay, head of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and an established film actor, has received approval from the Tiruchirappalli city police for his campaign in the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency. The campaign is scheduled for Sunday, April 23, and the approval comes with 27 stipulated conditions to maintain public order during the event. Vijay is poised to arrive in Tiruchirappalli from Chennai via a specially arranged flight.

Upon his arrival, the actor will utilise an open vehicle to engage with the public at several notable spots, including Wireless Road near the airport, KK Nagar Bus Stand, and Kottapattu. The campaign procession will traverse a variety of locations, passing the airport, Wireless Road, Kajamalai, and Kozhipannai Road before making its way back to the airport.

Vijay has requested campaign time from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and both the Election Commission and local law enforcement have granted their consent under the outlined conditions to ensure a peaceful campaign experience.

Campaign Manifesto Released by Vijay

On April 17, Vijay unveiled TVK’s election manifesto, outlining a range of welfare initiatives aimed at women and families. Prominent among these promises is a provision of Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women, alongside an offering of 8 grams of gold and a silk saree for brides from households earning less than Rs 5 lakh annually, should his party come to power in the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

During the manifesto launch, Vijay emphasised the focus on “honest administration,” criticising the election promises of competing parties. He asserted that the commitments made in TVK’s manifesto were founded on sincerity, contrasting them with what he termed as “empty promises” from rival parties. According to him, both the DMK and opposition parties have presented comparable manifestos with little differentiation.

In addition to proposing improved welfare initiatives, Vijay outlined plans to support young people through substantial educational loans, free coaching for competitive exams, and various employment schemes. He reinforced his commitment to transparent governance, stating that the TVK’s promises aim to genuinely benefit the electorate.

Focus on Diverse Welfare and Economic Initiatives

The manifesto presented by TVK encompasses significant guarantees targeting several societal sectors, including education, healthcare, and agriculture. Notable initiatives include collateral-free loans of up to Rs 20 lakh for higher education, enhanced pension provisions for senior citizens, and substantial support for farmers, such as loan waivers and crop insurance.

For fishermen, the party pledges financial relief during lean seasons and additional welfare measures, including subsidies for fishing boats. The manifesto also contains commitments aimed at improving state government employees’ welfare, inclusive of potential salary increases and pension review.

A compelling economic goal has been set, with a vision for a Rs 1.5 trillion economy by 2036, alongside the ambition to establish Tamil Nadu as a leader in artificial intelligence innovation through the introduction of specialised institutions. Vijay’s pledges for universal access to government schemes and services further reflect TVK’s objective to create a more inclusive state.

As the election date approaches, Vijay stands as a significant challenger in the Assembly elections, contesting from two constituencies. Tamil Nadu’s single-phase polling is set for April 23, with vote counting to occur on May 4, heightening the stakes as this campaign unfolds amid a competitive political landscape.
