A woman living in Karnataka’s Mandya district, known for surviving on alms, has left her neighbours in disbelief after a substantial amount of cash, reportedly exceeding Rs 30 lakh, was discovered in her residence following her death. The deceased, identified as Hoor Unnisa, had spent years begging for her livelihood in the Guthalu area, and her sudden passing has brought attention to an unexpected find.

Details of the Discovery

Hoor Unnisa, who lived alone after the death of her sister approximately two years ago, passed away on Sunday due to age-related health issues. Following her demise, local residents visited her rented home, where they allegedly stumbled upon several bags filled with cash. Initial estimates by community members suggest that more than 30 bags containing money were located in her house. During a preliminary count conducted on the same day, it was found that about Rs 8-9 lakh had been accounted for, while a further 20 bags remained unopened and uncounted.

This unexpected situation has left the community questioning how Hoor managed to amass and securely store such a considerable sum while relying solely on begging. Many locals were surprised by the discovery, given her public persona and the manner in which she earned a living.

The cash discovered has been provisionally entrusted to the local mosque in Guthalu for safekeeping. Muslim community leaders also communicated the finding to Hoor’s relatives, assuring them that the remaining cash bags would be counted once they arrived to inspect the estate. The precise total amount of money found has not yet been confirmed, and the community awaits full accounting.
