Director Priyadarshan, known for his successful films in the comedy genre, is reportedly preparing to direct a new comedic venture featuring prominent actors Pankaj Tripathi, Annu Kapoor, and Saurabh Shukla in leading roles. The untitled film is expected to capture the essence of his previous works, such as Hungama and The Shaukeens, and to offer a narrative filled with situational humour.

Plot Details and Cast Reunions

The storyline is said to focus on three elderly men as they navigate through a series of unusual and challenging circumstances. The film appears to align with Priyadarshan’s distinctive comedic style, highlighting the intricacies of human relationships and situations. This project also marks significant reunions for the filmmaker with several actors.

This collaboration with Pankaj Tripathi comes after an extensive gap of nearly sixteen years, following their work together on the film Aakrosh. Additionally, Saurabh Shukla has not worked with Priyadarshan since Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar in 2001. Annu Kapoor’s involvement is especially notable as he returns to work with the director after more than three decades, having previously featured in Muskurahat and Gardish.

Rajpal Yadav, a familiar face in Priyadarshan’s films, is also anticipated to have a significant role in the upcoming production. Currently, the casting for the female lead is in progress, with the team keen on finalising the cast soon to commence filming.

Production Schedule and Future Plans

The new comedy film is planned as a swift undertaking, intended to be completed before Priyadarshan embarks on directing his 100th film. This milestone project is set to feature Mohanlal, with production scheduled to begin in November 2026. Reports indicate that the script for this film has already been finalised, and filming for the comedy is expected to start in July 2026, adhering to a rigorous two-month shooting schedule.

Meanwhile, Priyadarshan’s recent release, Bhooth Bangla, which stars Akshay Kumar, is reportedly performing well at the box office. The film has earned over Rs 100 crore within a mere five days since its release, indicating a positive reception among audiences. The success of Bhooth Bangla has led the producers to consider a sequel and potential franchise development, although official confirmations regarding these plans are still forthcoming.

As Priyadarshan prepares to launch the upcoming comedy, his track record suggests that audiences can anticipate a project marked by humour, creativity, and insightful storytelling. The anticipation for both this film and his centenary directorial endeavour reflects the director’s significant career in Indian cinema.
