A social media stunt on a highway in the Mauganj district of Madhya Pradesh resulted in the tragic deaths of three young brothers. The accident occurred on the Panni Patharia stretch of National Highway under the jurisdiction of the Mauganj police station, according to local officials.

Initial reports indicate that the incident involved five individuals travelling on two motorcycles. The three brothers were riding a high-speed Pulsar motorcycle when they collided with a stationary trailer loaded with bricks, parked along the roadside. Witnesses claimed that one of the riders was brandishing a country-made pistol during the filming of the stunt.

Details of the Fatal Collision

In a video capturing the incident, the trio can be seen attempting to overtake a truck when the immobile trailer suddenly appears ahead. Unable to control the high-speed motorcycle, they crashed forcefully into the rear of the trailer, resulting in all three riders being ejected onto the road. Tragically, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash also caused a chain reaction, as another motorcycle, which carried two men filming the stunt from behind, collided with the same stationary trailer. Both riders on this second motorcycle sustained serious injuries.

The brothers have been identified as 17-year-old Upalaksh Kol, 22-year-old Amrish Kol, and 17-year-old Hemraj Kol. All three were residents of Bela village. The injured riders, Prashant Dwivedi and his brother Pradeep Dwivedi, hail from Chitpurwa village and were initially taken to a community health centre before being referred to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa for more advanced medical treatment.

Police Investigation Underway

Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sachi Pathak stated that the accident was primarily caused by reckless riding as the trio attempted to create content for social media. The police are actively conducting a further investigation to ascertain the complete circumstances leading up to the tragic event.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution while engaging in activities aimed at social media, particularly when these involve risky behaviour on public roads. The incident has prompted discussions about the safety protocols that should be observed during such stunts.

The events surrounding this incident highlight the potential dangers associated with social media trends, especially among youth. As investigations continue, police are keen to emphasise the importance of road safety and responsible behaviour to prevent such fatalities in the future.
