VHP Chief Calls for Fast-Track Investigation into Ram Temple Donation Allegations

The CSR Journal Magazine

Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) chief Alok Kumar has urged authorities to register a First Information Report (FIR) and expedite the investigation regarding alleged misappropriation of contributions received at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Kumar’s remarks were made during a press interview, where he emphasised that those found culpable should face appropriate legal consequences.

In his statements to India Today TV, Kumar asserted that “no one is above Lord Ram,” underlining the necessity for justice in this matter. He noted that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Uttar Pradesh government has already submitted its findings, indicating that it is now the right moment to file an official FIR.

He further stressed the importance of conducting the investigation on a fast-track basis, aiming for completion within four to five months. Kumar reiterated his commitment to ensuring that any individuals guilty of wrongdoing are held accountable without delay.

Background of the Investigation

The Uttar Pradesh government established the SIT on June 13 at the request of the Ram Temple trust, following allegations regarding the mismanagement of substantial donations made to the temple. Political implications arose when Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav publicised reports on June 7 alleging the disappearance of crores of rupees donated to the temple.

Yadav’s remarks prompted political responses, leading to accusations from Kumar against the Samajwadi Party and Congress for attempting to politicise the issue ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He remarked that the current state government was in power during critical events of the Ram Mandir movement, pointing to a historical context for the ongoing discussions.

Kumar stated, “The world is watching,” highlighting the potential ramifications of the situation. He asserted that the principle of equality before the law should prevail, stating that no individual or group should be immune from scrutiny in this investigation.

Institutional Mechanisms in Place

Responding to suggestions for judicial intervention, Kumar stated that such measures are unnecessary at this stage given that the state machinery is actively investigating the allegations. He expressed confidence in the institutional processes currently at work, advocating for patience in allowing the investigation to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

Moreover, Kumar expressed optimism regarding the outcome of the probe, stating that it would clarify the facts and ensure accountability, regardless of the parties involved. His statements underline the VHP’s expectations for a thorough and transparent investigation moving forward.
