Uttarakhand CM Dhami Oversees Rescue Operations for Trekkers

The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been actively reviewing the ongoing rescue efforts to evacuate trekkers stranded in challenging locations in Uttarkashi. On Monday, forty trekkers who had embarked on a high-altitude expedition to Kalindi Base and Auden’s Col Base were safely rescued. The operation followed well-established procedures to ensure all individuals were relocated to secure locations.

The rescue operation successfully evacuated 11 individuals from the Kalindi Pass Base area. Simultaneously, twenty-nine trekkers were safely extricated from the Auden’s Col Base area, bringing the total number of people rescued from both sites to forty.

Under the supervision of District Magistrate Prashant Arya, various teams have been coordinating logistics and executing necessary arrangements at Harsil and additional designated locations. These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure the safety of the trekkers while managing other critical activities in the region.

Ongoing Coordination and Oversight

In the evening, District Magistrate Arya visited the Smart Control Room to assess the progress of the rescue initiatives. He instructed all teams involved in the mission to maintain the highest standards of efficiency and promptness. Arya also evaluated the current status of the Char Dham Yatra, directing officials to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow along pilgrimage routes and to keep essential services operational.

Earlier in the day, District Magistrate Arya visited the Harsil helipad to monitor the ongoing rescue activities. He received comprehensive updates from joint teams, including the Army, Air Force, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local police, and disaster management officials regarding the trekkers’ locations, prevailing weather conditions, and both aerial and ground operation details.

Despite facing adverse weather and difficult terrain, rescue teams have continued their efforts to ensure the safe evacuation of trekkers. The District Magistrate emphasised the necessity of collaboration across all units involved in the rescue operation, which has been recognised as a top priority.

Safety Measures and Post-Rescue Support

In addition to direct rescue efforts, the District Magistrate has instructed officials to arrange adequate ambulances, medical teams, and relief supplies at the helipad. This is to guarantee that trekkers receive immediate assistance upon their rescue, including access to first aid, warm clothing, food, and drinking water.

Furthermore, the coordinated efforts among various teams signify a commitment to not only rescue the stranded individuals but also to ensure their health and well-being post-evacuation. Authorities remain focused on ensuring that all necessary resources and support services are readily available for the rescued trekkers.

The joint rescue initiative highlights the importance of preparedness and coordination in handling emergencies, particularly in high-altitude areas where weather and terrain pose significant challenges. Efforts are ongoing, and updates will be provided as the situation develops.
