The CSR Journal Magazine

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in Agra for allegedly murdering his 19-year-old nephew over accusations of blackmail related to obscene photos of his minor daughter. The incident occurred on February 18, 2024, in the Malpura area and was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Atul Sharma.

Murder Over Blackmail Allegations

The main accused, identified as Deviram, allegedly lured his nephew Rakesh to his roadside eatery situated on the Agra-Gwalior Road. With the help of another nephew, Nitya Kishore, Deviram reportedly strangled Rakesh using a muffler and an iron wire. The duo then placed the body into a plastic drum, transported it in a loader vehicle to a secluded area, doused it with petrol, and set it on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Two days later, a half-charred body was discovered by police in the Sainya area. Due to the extent of the burns, the victim could not be immediately identified. It was only after DNA profiling that the remains were confirmed to be that of Rakesh, a wedding videographer.

Grisly Disposal of the Body

According to police, Deviram confessed that he was enraged after learning that Rakesh had secretly filmed his minor daughter while she was bathing and was allegedly using the footage to blackmail her. Seeking revenge, he planned the murder with his co-accused nephew. After committing the crime, they disposed of the victim’s mobile phone by throwing it into the Khari River.

Police Crack Case Using DNA Profiling

An FIR was registered under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) at Malpura police station. Following the incident, Deviram shut down his eatery and fled to Delhi, where he took up work in a hotel to avoid arrest. He was eventually apprehended during a police patrol.

Second Accused Still Absconding

The second accused, Nitya Kishore, remains absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to locate him and are also working to recover any remaining forensic evidence. Efforts are ongoing to trace the destroyed murder weapons and obtain additional leads.

The case has shocked the local community, with many disturbed by the gruesome nature of the crime and the fact that it occurred within a family. Police have assured that justice will be served and have intensified the investigation to bring the absconding accused to justice.
