Now farmers selling land to the Government of Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Jewar Airport will benefit handsomely. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has increased the compensation to farmers for land acquisition to build the Jewar Airport from Rs 3,100 per square meter to Rs 4,300 per square meter.
Farmers will also be paid interest as per rules, and complete arrangements will be made for the resettlement of affected farmers, and their employment, as stated by the CM.
Work is in progress for NOIDA International Airport which is expected to be operational by April next year. The airport will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was announced by the CM.
Yogi’s commitment to farmers
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Asia’s largest airport is being built in Jewar, the credit for this development goes to the farmers. The compensation payable for land acquisition for the third phase for Noida International Airport, Jewar has been increased from Rs 3,100 per square meter to Rs 4,300 per square meter. Hearty congratulations and salutations to all the farmer brothers!” the Chief Minister announced in an X post on Friday night.
“Jewar remained immersed in darkness for decades, and now it is ready to shine on the world stage. In the next 10 years, Jewar is going to become the most developed area of the country, and the whole world will see the prosperity. Noida International Airport will start in April 2025, Hon’ble Prime Minister will inaugurate it,” the CM expressed.
Delighted by the announcement, farmers have expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister.
NOIDA International Airport
Jewar Airport will be equipped with an annual capacity of 70 million passengers by 2040, as per an announcement made by the CM. A proposal has been sent to the centre to connect Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) to the Jewar Airport, which will be connected with Eastern Peripheral Road, Yamuna Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Delhi-Varanasi High Speed Rail.
A significant milestone was reached on December 9, when an Airbus A320 from IGI completed a validation flight at the new airport, confirming the functionality of its navigational aids and air traffic control systems.
Once fully operational, the facility is expected to feature eight runways, making it double the size of Delhi’s airport, according to officials from NOIDA International Airport Limited (NIAL). The airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich International Airport AG, under a public-private partnership model at an estimated cost of Rs 29,650 crore.
