Upendra Kushwaha of RLM Thanks BJP Leadership Following Rajya Sabha Nomination

Upendra Kushwaha, the chief of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), expressed his appreciation to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after his nomination for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections. In a statement, Kushwaha acknowledged the collaborative effort of various parties, saying, “Candidates from different parties have been nominated.

Everyone in the alliance has everyone’s support. My candidacy was also based on that, and for this, on behalf of our party, we express our gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, the Chief Minister, and BJP National President Nitin Nabin.”

Nomination Details and Party Support

The formal nomination is set to be submitted on March 5, as indicated in an official announcement from the party’s Bihar unit. Nitin Bharti, the state spokesperson for RLM, clarified that Kushwaha’s candidacy was unanimously ratified by party leadership following comprehensive discussions. “Upendra Kushwaha, a key figure within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), will file his nomination as the RLM candidate. All senior leaders from the party and its allies are anticipated to attend this event,” remarked Bharti in the statement.

BJP Releases Candidate List for Rajya Sabha Elections

Earlier on the same day, the BJP unveiled its initial list of candidates for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections, featuring nine nominees from six states. This announcement was made public by the party’s Central Election Committee from its headquarters in New Delhi. For the state of Bihar, the BJP nominated Nitin Nabin, the National President, along with Shivesh Kumar.

In Assam, the selections included Terash Gowalla and Jogen Mohan, while Laxmi Verma is the nominee from Chhattisgarh. Haryana will see Sanjay Bhatia contesting, and in Odisha, candidates include Manmohan Samal and Sujeet Kumar on the BJP ticket. Furthermore, Rahul Sinha has been announced from West Bengal.

Election Schedule and Process

The Election Commission has scheduled the polling for March 16, with the counting of votes to occur on the same day at 5 PM. The election process is expected to be completed by March 20.

These biennial elections aim to fill 37 seats across ten states including Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana, whose members’ terms are expected to end in April 2026.
